The Milwaukee Brewers beat the Tampa Bay Rays 4–1 on Wednesday night at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg to win the World Series four games to one — the first championship in franchise history. Milwaukee scored in the second and fifth innings and added two in the sixth. Jacob Misiorowski threw 5⅔ shutout innings.
It was Milwaukee's first World Series appearance in 44 years; the franchise, founded in 1969, lost its only previous appearance to the St. Louis Cardinals in 1982. The Brewers won 103 games in the regular season, beat San Diego in the Division Series, and swept the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League Championship Series. Tampa Bay scored its only run in the ninth inning.
