The Calgary Flames scored first in Seattle, held the lead into the second period, and left with a point. Matty Beniers scored on a breakaway 55 seconds into overtime, and the Kraken beat Calgary 2–1 on Wednesday at Climate Pledge Arena.
The goals
Yegor Sharangovich opened the scoring at 12:45 of the first period, tipping a Zach Whitecloud point shot past Joey Daccord. Morgan Frost's assist on the goal was the 200th point of his NHL career.
Berkly Catton tied it at 13:09 of the second, snapping a wrist shot past Dustin Wolf on a rush. Catton had an earlier goal in the first period nullified when Calgary successfully challenged the play for offside.
The third period was scoreless. In overtime, Brandon Montour intercepted a pass in his own end and sent Beniers in alone; Beniers scored low, off the post and in.
The goaltenders
Daccord made 25 saves for Seattle. Wolf stopped 27 shots for Calgary.
Where the teams stand
Seattle is 9-5-1 and bounced back from a 6–2 loss in Calgary on October 30. Catton's goal extended his points streak to seven games.
Calgary is 7-8-1. The loss was the Flames' first in overtime this season, and it closed their three-game road trip.
