The Winnipeg Jets scored early and kept scoring. Six different players found the net in a 6-2 win over the Vancouver Canucks on Thursday night at Canada Life Centre.

The game

Winnipeg led 3-1 after the first period and 5-1 after the second. The Jets' scoring came from across the lineup rather than one line: six players scored, and Mark Scheifele finished with a goal and an assist.

Dawson Mercer scored his first goal of the season as part of a two-point night. Mario Ferraro capped the Winnipeg scoring at 11:32 of the third period to make it 6-1.

Liam Ohgren scored in the first period for Vancouver, and Brock Boeser added the Canucks' second goal at 15:09 of the third.

Vancouver's slide

The loss was Vancouver's fourth in a row. The Canucks are 3-14-1, and they have surrendered an NHL-high 22 power-play goals this season.

Leevi Merilainen started in goal for Vancouver. Stuart Skinner started for Winnipeg, in a game the Jets controlled from the first period on.

What is next

Winnipeg has won two straight. Vancouver's road does not ease up: the Canucks play in Edmonton on Saturday night against the Oilers.
