The Toronto Maple Leafs tied the game twice on Tuesday night and lost it on a power play. Nick Schmaltz scored the winner with 6:48 left in regulation as the Utah Mammoth beat Toronto 3–2 at Scotiabank Arena.

The goals

Dylan Guenther opened the scoring on the power play with 12.4 seconds left in the first period. Jack Roslovic tied it at 10:20 of the second, firing a shot past Sebastian Cossa moments after Troy Stecher's stick broke on an odd-man rush.

Andrew Peeke put Utah ahead again at 13:42 of the second, on a shot through traffic. Roslovic tied it a second time at 9:05 of the third, skating in alone off an Auston Matthews pass and roofing a backhand.

The winner

Schmaltz snapped the 2–2 tie at 13:12 of the third, burying a loose puck in the crease on the power play after Sergei Bobrovsky stopped Clayton Keller. Utah scored on two of its three power plays; Toronto scored on none of its two.

Roslovic scored both Toronto goals and Matthews had two assists. Bobrovsky made 33 saves for Toronto, and Cossa made 27 for Utah.

Where the teams stand

Utah is 10-6-0 and has won both meetings with Toronto this season, after a 5–4 win on October 13. Toronto is 8-7-2 and opened a six-game homestand with the loss.
