Toronto FC beat D.C. United 2–1 on Wednesday night at BMO Field, closing its home schedule with a comeback win. Andre Dozzell put D.C. ahead in the 29th minute with his first goal for the club. Jonathan Osorio levelled in the 64th minute when Josh Sargent's header from a corner deflected off him — a goal confirmed onside after video review — and Sargent scored the winner in the 86th minute, converting the rebound after Theo Corbeanu's shot struck the post. It was Sargent's ninth goal of the season.

Toronto is 9–11–12 with 39 points and kept its playoff hopes alive; D.C. United (7–13–12, 33 points) was eliminated from playoff contention. Toronto's next match is at Atlanta United on Sunday, November 1.
