Max Verstappen won the Mexico City Grand Prix on Sunday, holding off Lewis Hamilton by 0.7 seconds. The Canadian angle was over early: Lance Stroll's Aston Martin was out after five laps.

The title is decided

Kimi Antonelli finished third for Mercedes and clinched the 2026 Formula 1 world championship with four rounds remaining. At 20, he is the youngest champion in Formula 1 history.

Antonelli needed only ninth place to secure the title. His third place leaves him with a 119-point lead over Verstappen, who moved to second in the championship with the win.

Stroll and Alonso both out

Both Aston Martins failed to finish. Stroll was told to stop his car and retired at turn six, bringing out a virtual safety car on lap seven. Fernando Alonso was also out after five laps.

Charles Leclerc finished fourth for Ferrari, and Lando Norris finished fifth. The race included a red flag after a heavy crash involving Valtteri Bottas, and two safety car periods.

Formula 1 returns next weekend for the São Paulo Grand Prix at Interlagos.
