The Edmonton Oilers beat the Calgary Flames 4–0 on Wednesday night at Rogers Place in the first Battle of Alberta of the season. Tristan Jarry stopped all 24 shots he faced for his 24th career shutout. Mathieu Joseph opened the scoring in the first period, Mattias Ekholm doubled the lead in the second, and Kasperi Kapanen and Alex Formenton scored 21 seconds apart early in the third.
Connor McDavid had two assists and set an NHL record by collecting at least one assist in a 13th consecutive game to start a season; he has 36 points in that streak. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins also had two assists. Calgary goaltender Devin Cooley left after the first period with a lower-body injury after Edmonton forward Colton Dach crashed into him; Dustin Wolf made 20 saves in relief. Calgary's four-game winning streak is over.
